Benjamin Siino
, a Founding Partner of Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes, has been elected Co-Secretary General of the International Academy for Arbitration Law (aka “Arbitration Academy”).
Effective January 1st, he has begun a three-year term along with Julien Fouret, while Prof. Diego P. Fernández Arroyo and Marina Matoušeková respectively serve as President and Treasurer for a second term.
Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes has a long-standing commitment to education and regularly collaborates with leading academic and arbitral institutions worldwide on initiatives aimed at advancing knowledge of, and fostering a global dialogue on, international arbitration.
Benjamin Siino has conducted the Academy’s workshop on the 1958 New York Convention and the UNCITRAL Secretariat Guide since 2018. Benjamin acted as co-Team Leader of the New York Convention Guide Project, a project involving the publication of the Guide and a dedicated website on the implementation of the 1958 Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, developed in cooperation with UNCITRAL and Columbia University with a view to promoting the Convention’s uniform application around the world.
The Arbitration Academy was established in 2011. The late Emmanuel Gaillard served as the Academy’s first President, and Yas Banifatemi as the Academy’s first co-Secretary General. She currently sits on its Board of Directors.
Over the past 15 years, the Arbitration Academy has trained more than 800 students and professionals from over 80 countries.
