INCLUDES REPRESENTATION OF:

• An international logistics company in an ICC arbitration in Paris brought against the Port Authority of an African State. The dispute arises from a concession agreement related to the management and operation of a container terminal.
• Alpiq AG in proceedings initiated by our client to request the partial annulment of the Award rendered on 9 November 2018 in an ICSID arbitration against Romania (ICSID Case No. ARB/14/28). The dispute concerns electricity generation and distribution operations and the claims in the underlying arbitration were brought under the Energy Charter Treaty as well as the Switzerland-Romania bilateral investment treaty.
• The majority shareholders in the former Yukos Oil Company in proceedings initiated in multiple jurisdictions to seek the recognition and enforcement of the USD 50 billion awards rendered in the arbitrations brought by the shareholders against the Russian Federation concerning the expropriation of their investments in Yukos.
• The People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Respondent in an ICSID arbitration initiated by Orascom TMT Investments S.à.r.l. (ICSID Case No. ARB/12/35). The dispute related to alleged breaches of the Algeria-Belgium-Luxembourg bilateral investment treaty in relation to the operation of a mobile telephone company in Algeria. The USD 4 billion brought against our client was dismissed.
• European investor Mr. Bedri Selmani in an ICC arbitration in Paris against the Republic of Kosovo. The dispute arises from investments in petrol stations and petrol storage facilities. The claims are brought, inter alia, under the 2014 Kosovo Foreign Investment Law.
• Tribunal assistant in Teyliom International and others v. République du Bénin (ICSID Case No. ARB/20/24). Dispute related to a tourism construction project. The claims are brought under the 2020 Beninese Investment Code.
