INCLUDES REPRESENTATION OF:

• The Republic of Georgia in an investment treaty arbitration brought by Telcell Wireless LLC and International Telcell Cellular, LLC before ICSID under the Georgia-U.S. bilateral investment treaty (ICSID Case No. ARB/20/5). The dispute arises from the alleged mistreatment of Magticom, Georgia’s leading telecommunication company, including the investigation, arrest and detention of its founder and majority shareholder, the son-in-law of former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, by the government of President Mikhail Saakashvili in the aftermath of the 2003 Rose Revolution.
• An international joint venture, project owner, Respondent in an ICC arbitration in Paris initiated by an oil field services provider. The dispute arises from an EPC contract for the construction of upstream facilities in Africa. Issues include liability for delay, additional works and disruption. Over USD 850 million is at stake.
• A North American subsidiary of EDF as Respondent and Counter-claimant in an ICC arbitration in New York initiated by North American energy company Exelon Generation Company LLC. New York law applied. Over USD 750 million was at stake. The dispute related to the valuation of nuclear power plants in the U.S. owned jointly by EDF and Exelon. It arose from the Parties’ divergent interpretation of the provisions of a put-option agreement concerning these assets, specifically the provisions governing the manner in which the fair market value of the assets was to be assessed.
• An African transportation company in an UNCITRAL arbitration against an Asian equipment manufacturer. The dispute arose from an agreement for the supply of passenger trailers. The law of the Claimant’s State applied.
• Alverley Investments Limited and Germen Properties Ltd, Claimants in an ICSID arbitration against Romania (ICSID Case No. ARB/18/30). The dispute related to a multi-billion euro commercial and residential real estate project in northern Bucharest. The claims were brought under the Cyprus-Romania bilateral investment treaty.
• A Middle Eastern company in an ICC arbitration in Doha against a Middle Eastern energy company. The dispute arose from a gas supply agreement. Qatari law applied.
• A Middle Eastern State-owned gas company, Respondent in a CRCICA arbitration in Madrid brought by a European energy company. The dispute arose from a gas supply agreement. Egyptian law applied.
• Sonatrach, Respondent in an ICC arbitration in Paris initiated by Saipem SpA and Saipem Contracting Algérie SpA. The dispute arose from an agreement for the construction of an oil & gas production facility in North Africa. Algerian law applied. Over USD 1 billion was at stake.
• Two international construction contractors as Respondents in an ICC arbitration in London brought by a Middle Eastern State entity arising out of the development of a world-class medical facility in the Middle East. Over USD 3.7 billion was at stake.
